Restorative Dentistry in Spokane
No one likes to imagine losing or damaging teeth. But when these things happen, it is reassuring to have an experienced, qualified restorative dentist there to help.
Restorative dentists like Dr. Ryan Love are able to quickly repair, rebuild or replace missing or damaged teeth to recreate a complete smile. Dr. Love strives to restore optimal form, function and health to affected teeth so patients can feel like themselves again.
Dental crowns are placed over teeth with significant decay or damage. They cover the entire outer portion of the affected tooth, offering strength and support. Crowns make it possible to chew and bite comfortably and smile confidently. The restorations can be made from gold, porcelain or other ceramic materials.
Bridges literally bridge the gap left by a missing tooth. A conventional dental bridge consists of an artificial tooth supported on either side by a crown. The crowns are fitted over the teeth adjacent to the gap and the false tooth fits snugly into the gap. Bridges are fixed into place and not removable by patients.
Another way to replace missing teeth is with the placement of a dental implant. Implants are anchored in the jawbone with a titanium post or screw; the post or screws can support a single tooth (i.e., a crown), a partial denture or full denture appliance. Because they are placed in the jawbone, implants are incredibly strong and secure. They also help keep the jawbone stimulated so it does not deteriorate after tooth loss.
Dental fillings rebuild teeth with cavities. The filling is placed in the space where the decayed tooth material is removed. Although traditionally fillings were made with metal materials, many of today’s fillings are made of composite resin material and look very similar to natural tooth structure. A properly placed tooth-colored filling blends in impeccably with the surrounding tooth.
Treatment for Periodontal Disease
Periodontal (gum) disease is extremely common among adults. It is also very serious — if left untreated, gum disease can gradually destroy the soft and hard tissues holding the teeth in place.
Treating gum disease depends on the severity. Early stages of gum disease can be reversed with diligent at-home oral hygiene and deep dental cleanings. More advanced stages of gum disease may require surgery or gum or bone grafts.
Treatment for TMJ/TMD
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects the lower jaw to the skull. This complicated joint is made up of bone, muscles, ligaments and discs that allow the jaw to open and close and move side to side. Problems affecting the TMJ are known as temporomandibular joint disease, or TMD. TMD can cause symptoms such as difficulty opening and closing the jaw, clicking or popping noises when opening the jaw, muscle stiffness or soreness, toothaches and earaches. Treatment for TMD depends on the root of the problem and the severity.

Dr. Love believes that the right dental technology can make treatment quicker, safer and more comfortable for his patients. He invests in high-tech systems and tools that help him to be more efficient and treatment outcomes more accurate.
The revolutionary CEREC system enables him to plan, create and place top-quality crowns and bridges in a single visit. Tools such as cone beam CT scans help Dr. Love to capture three-dimensional images of the teeth, soft tissues and bone of the jaw for more precise treatment planning. Systems like the Sirona guided implant system help Dr. Love carefully map out treatment for more predictable dental implant results. Thanks to these key pieces of technology, Dr. Love’s patients save considerable time, money and effort on dental treatment.
